Grants to Non-profits

2017 Grant Awards

The Woman’s Club of Ouray County is now accepting grant applications from Ouray County non-profit organizations for funding special community projects. Deadline for the grant applications is no later than September 30, 2017. Requests should include the following information: (1) brief description of the non-profit organization applying;  (2) other sources of funding for the non-profit; (3) amount of funding requested (up to $500.00); (4) specific reason for funding request (must not be for general operational expenses); (5) all relevant contact information for the non-profit, including current email address. All applicants will receive a confirmation email that their request has been received.
Grant requests should be mailed to WCOC at PO Box 101, Ouray, CO 81427 and must arrive by the application deadline to be considered. The WCOC Board will review the grant applications and will make its recommendations for funding to the full membership for final voting at its monthly meeting on October 17.

In keeping with its 119-year commitment to community service and philanthropy, last year the Woman’s Club of Ouray County awarded $9500 in grants to local non-profit organizations. The money for these grants was made possible with all funds earned from the WCOC Annual Rummage Sale. The Club’s membership voted unanimously to support these programs.

Organizations receiving grant monies in 2017 will be announced in September.


Last Year’s Awards

Last year, $9,500 in grant monies was awarded to local non-profit organizations. The WCOC membership voted unanimously to support Ouray County children’s programs with 25% of these funds, art programs with 19% of funds, seniors/disabled programs with 6% of funds, animal programs with 12% of funds, and other various community programs with 38% of funds.

Organizations receiving grant monies in 2016 include Cedar Hill Cemetery, Haven House, Mountain Air Music, Neighbor to Neighbor, Ouray County Arts Association, Ouray County Chorus, Ouray County EMS, Ouray County Historical Society, Ouray County Performing Arts, Ouray County Public Health, Ouray Elks Lodge #492, Ouray Ice Park, Ouray Public Library, Ouray School PATT, Partners Mentoring, Public Art Ridgway CO (PARC), Ridgway Chataqua Society, Ridgway Railroad Museum, Second Chance, Sherbino Theater, Top of the Pines, Uncompahgre Watershed, and the Wright Opera House.
