December 18 – Woman of the Year, Ouray County Chorus and Community Cookie Tins

Tin boxes of baked cookies and candies for holiday

December’s WCOC meeting will include the announcement of the 2018 Woman of the Year a performance by the Ouray County Chorus and assembling cookie tins for Ouray County shut-ins.
The WCOC Woman of the Year is a woman nominated by the WCOC membership at the October and November meetings, and the individual selected has to have been a resident of the community for ten or more years, and she shall be known for her extraordinary dedication and service to the community, whether it be as a member of established organizations or on an individual basis.
The Ouray County Chorus enjoys coming to perform pieces from their recent holiday concert. The chorus group is a grant beneficiary from the WCOC.
Also during the meeting, cookie tins for county shut-ins will be assembled. We ask those attending the meeting to please bring 3-4 dozen cookies.
Food and cash donations will be collected for the Ouray County Food Pantry, and there will also be a Silver March (cash donation) collection for a local charity.

WCOC meetings are held at 1-3 p.m. at the Ouray Community Center, San Juan Room. Most meetings feature a unique program presenting guest speakers, men and women who lead “uncommon lives.” Following a break for refreshments, a short business meeting is held. The public is welcome.
