2014 Woman of the Year
2014 Woman of the Year, Sue Hillhouse
OURAY COUNTY WOMAN’S CLUB 2014 WOMAN OF THE YEAR!
Sue Hillhouse has been active in Ouray County non-profit organizations since 1999 when she and her husband, Tom, moved to Ouray County. She serves as president of the Ouray County Performing Arts Guild (OCPAG) and is active in the Ouray County Historical Society, where she has organized the Museum’s annual quilt show for about 12 years. She has served as OCHS membership chairman and leads historical tours. HIllhouse also served on the Mt. Sneffels Board and also was a founding Board Member of Neighbor to Neighbor.
In 2011, Hillhouse received the Ridgway-Ouray Community Council’s Outstanding Citizen Award. To many county residents, Hillhouse needs little introduction. Within a few months of moving to Ouray in 1999, she immersed herself in local nonprofit endeavors, said Kelvin Kent, former vice president of the Ouray County Performing Arts Guild. “Her work as president of OCPAG for the past decade stands out as a shining example of dedicated leadership, patience, unstinting hard work and sheer ability to inspire others to perform at their highest levels,” said Kent. “Ouray County is better off because of Sue Hillhouse.”
Woman’s Club of Ouray County agrees, and was pleased to name her 2014 Outstanding Woman of the Year.
